Obituary

John Christopher Cawood passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family in Ocean Ridge, Florida on January 2, 2019.

John was born in Cape Town, South Africa to Tem and Helen Cawood on June 15, 1950.  He graduated from Wynberg Boys' High School and later studied law at the University of South Africa.  He was married to Yvonne in Cape Town on April 10, 1976.

John practiced law in Cape Town at Balsillies, Watermeyer and Cawood until he emigrated to the United States with his family in 1994.  He subsequently opened a Title and Escrow Company, Gold Coast Settlement Services, with a partner in Coral Springs, Florida where he worked until retirement.  He was an avid sportsman having played both rugby and cricket and later enjoyed playing golf with family and friends.  He always enjoyed a good party and never allowed a glass to go empty.  John was a very special, kind and generous husband and father.  To his family and friends he was loyal and to his clients he was dedicated.  He was taken far too soon, and he will be sorely missed by everyone who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his father, Tem Cawood.  He is survived by his mother, Helen Cawood; his wife, Yvonne Cawood; his sons Bob (Gretchen) Cawood and Chris (Allison) Cawood; his sister, Sandra (Peter) Unite; his brothers Graeme (Marie) Cawood, Mark (Gaysie) Cawood, Grant Cawood, and Bryan (Lianne) Cawood; and grandchildren, Hazel and Kelsey.

A private celebration of life will be held. In lieu of flowers a donation may be made to the American Brain Tumor Association Click Here to Donate Online

The family would like to thank everyone at Hospice (Vitas) for their compassionate care and kindness
