John (Jack) C. Crogan, of Delray Beach, FL passed away on April 13, 2018 at the age of 89, three weeks prior to his 90th birthday. Born in Washington, DC, Jack was preceded in death by his wife, Ann, and a stepson, Stephen Smyka.
Jack is survived by his son, Patrick Crogan (Pam) of Annandale, VA; stepdaughter, Sharon Smith (Ward) of Vero Beach, FL; and stepson, Richard Smyka (Shelley) of Liberty, UT. Lovingly referred to as Baba, he is also survived by eight grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
After a two year enlistment in the US Marine Corps, Jack attended George Washington University in Washington, DC, and later earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of Miami in Florida.
Jack's business career included positions at Old Dominion Bank in VA; clerk for the U.S. Department of Justice (Criminal Works); CPA for Miller Charlton; Cost Budget Analyst for Capitol Airlines (later United Airlines) in Washington, DC; cafeteria manager for the Senate Office Building in DC; and the U.S. Treasury Department in Gold & Silver Operations and later in U.S. Customs.
Upon retiring to Delray Beach in 1986, Jack and Ann enjoyed many pleasurable years of two new hobbies - golf for Jack and bridge for both. Jack also dedicated many years serving as Treasurer for their condo association.
Jack/Baba was a kind, generous and thoughtful man who made us laugh and filled our hearts with joy. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
