John E. Fitzsimmons, of Delray Beach, died in his home on November 21st, 2016. "Jack" was born July 21, 1934 in Marty, South Dakota. He graduated from Creighton University, Omaha, Nebraska in 1959 with an Army ROTC commission and served more than 20 years as an Army officer, getting assignments in the U.S, Greenland, Germany, France and Viet-Nam. After attending the Army Command and General Staff College he attained the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He retired from the Army in Philadelphia, and was soon offered a position at PNC Bank, rising to be a vice-president before retiring. He moved to Delray Beach in 1997, and volunteered for years at the Library.

Jack is survived by his companion of fifty years, E. Michael Dixon, of Delray Beach, his younger brother Tom of Bismarck, North Dakota, his younger sisters Colleen in Utah, Kathleen in Minneapolis and Eileen in Omaha. Also surviving are seventeen nieces and nephews.

Jack's Funeral Mass after cremation will be celebrated Tuesday, November 29, 2016, 11 AM at St. Vincent Ferrer Catholic Church, 840 George Bush Boulevard, Delray Beach.
