John Landis Shuttleworth of Boynton Beach, FL passed away unexpectedly on July 27, 2016. He was born in Chapel Hill, NC on August 1, 1962. After a stint in the Navy, John went into the food services profession and worked most of his life as a chef. He graduated at the top of his class from the Florida Culinary Institute in the spring of 2005. In 2010, John was designated a 'Certified Culinarian' by the American Culinary Federation.
John was also a talented and prolific songwriter. During the 1980's he fronted a band called Red Upholstery in Columbus, Ohio, and worked with songwriting partner Tim Gay in creating many clever and unusual songs. John is survived by his father, Edwin C. Shuttleworth, Jr, his mother Margaret Walsmith Shuttleworth, and his three siblings Carol, Edwin III, and Elizabeth Shuttleworth Browning. A small private service will be held in the home of John's immediate family. In lieu of flowers, friends and family members may choose to donate to Peggy Adams, a local animal rescue organization, in John's name.
