John J. Strong, 70, of Delray Beach, FL, passed away on August 14, 2013 at Bethesda Hospital. He was born on January 7, 1943 in Waterbury, CT to the late James and Marion Strong. Beloved husband of Cynthia (Tucker) Strong, he was predeceased by his daughter, Stacy and is survived by daughters: Susan (John) Burtis; Stephanie (Gerard) Esteban and Shannon (Hickory) Delegal. Known as "Poppie" to eight grandchildren: Jack, Brendan, Liam and Mary Catherine Burtis; Lillian Esteban and Sterling, Sheridan and Sutton Delegal. He was very close to all of his cousins and was a proud member of the Martinson clan. John was a graduate of Crosby High School in Waterbury, CT and of Seton Hall Univ. in NJ. He owned and operated the Waterman Company of Boca Raton for 26 years. John always managed to see the positive in life and will be remembered for his ability to make everyone feel special. Special thanks to the staff in the ICU of Bethesda Hospital for their good care over the past month. A visitation will be held on Friday August 23, 2013 from 5PM to 8PM at the Lorne & Sons Funeral Home, 745 NE 6th Ave. (N. Federal Hwy)Delray Beach, FL. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, August 24, 2013 12:00PM at Emmanuel Catholic Church, 15700 S. Military Trail, Delray Beach. Burial will follow at Queen of Peace Cemetery, Royal Palm Beach.
