Todino, Jr.
December 31, 1939 – February 9, 2025
John Joseph Todino of Delray Beach, Florida passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 9, 2025 at Delray Beach Medical Center.
He was the loving husband of Arlene (Dee) Todino (nee Simmonds), loving father of Joseph J. Todino, loving father-in-law to Lisa Todino (nee Palacino), and loving grandfather to Caitlin Lebow.
John was born in Brooklyn, New York on December 31, 1939.
John known as Joe, was an avid fitness buff, working out until his last days. He enjoyed going to the gym 3-6 days a week. An excellent cook, he enjoyed making beautifully prepared meals for his family and friends. He was a lifelong Giants, Yankees and Knicks fan. He enjoyed simple pleasures in life, such as having a cigar, a cup of black coffee with Sambuca and collecting Mangos from his Tree in his backyard.
John was a loving Husband, Father, Father-in-law, Brother, Brother-in-law, Grandfather and Great Grandfather. He was a loving Uncle to his many nephews and nieces. He also was a loving cousin.
He worked in construction in his younger years. He then went to work for Madison Square Garden in the mid 1960's. Later on, he went to work for the New York City Department of Buildings (Allied Engineers) before retiring in 1983. Upon which in 1988 he and his wife relocated to Delray Beach, Florida.
John was a gentle giant of a man. Growing up in Brooklyn down on 9th Street. He maintained lifelong friendships with Marco (Butch) Tedesco, his cousin Robert D'Amato, Patrick Condello, Dennis Tobin, Robert Frizalone and many others.
While he was in his early 20's he met the love of his life Arlene (Dee) Todino (née Simmonds), whom which he was married for the next 60 plus years.
He enjoyed working out and playing football and softball in his younger years. He enjoyed scuba diving and going on diving adventures throughout Florida and the Caribbean.
John enjoyed hunting and camping in his younger years and going crabbing with friends and family on many occasions. In the early 1980's, he built a cabin with his friends Joey and Butch. Where which for many years family and friends would come up to enjoy his exquisitely prepared meals.
He loved his dogs: Lady Bell, Brutus, Daisy, Alphonse, Brittany, Buddy and Buster. He also loved having to meet his Grand dog Ginny in his final months.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, February 17, 2025 at 10:30am at Emmanuel Catholic Church, 15700 South Military Trail Delray Beach, FL 33484.
