Obituary

Jørgen Jul Møller, Sr., beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away at the age of 87. A longtime resident of Boca Raton, Florida, he previously made his home in Delray Beach and Miami, where he left an indelible mark on the culinary and cultural landscape.

Born in Denmark, Jørgen began his apprenticeship as a chef at just 15 years old. At 19, he immigrated to Chicago to pursue his dream of becoming a chef in America. It was there that he began a remarkable career that would span decades and earn him recognition as an award-winning chef and restaurateur. More importantly, it was there that he met the love of his life, Monica. They soon married and shared many wonderful years together until her passing in 2012.

From serving as Head Chef at the New York World's Fair in the 1960s to opening the world-famous Prince Hamlet Inn in Miami in 1969, Jørgen's culinary achievements were both pioneering and inspiring. He went on to own Café Danica in Margate and Out of Denmark in Delray Beach, each restaurant a reflection of his Danish roots and passion for hospitality. His establishments became gathering places for friends, family, and community alike.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Jørgen dedicated himself to charitable endeavors, particularly in support of the local Jewish community. His generosity and tireless fundraising efforts touched countless lives and reflected his deep belief in giving back.

Jørgen is survived by his three children, seven grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren, all of whom were the pride and joy of his life. His legacy will live on through the love of his family, the many friendships he cherished, and the lasting impact he made in the culinary world. He will be remembered for his remarkable talent, his generous spirit, and the love and devotion he showed to his family and community.
