Obituary

Joseph H. Amaral, 79, of Boynton Beach, passed away peacefully on May 14, 2026, following a long illness.  His family takes comfort in knowing he is now free of illness and rejoicing in Heaven.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 45 years, Judi; his son, Chris Amaral; his daughter, Tarah Amaral; his granddaughter, Stephanie Amaral; his sister & brother-in-law, Joyce & Mike Quirk; and his brother & sister-in-law, Jim & Barbara Amaral. He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Alice Amaral and granddaughter, Julia Amaral.

Joe was born August 27, 1946, in Fall River, Massachusetts.  He graduated from Durfee High School in Fall River and enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1965.  He bravely served as a forward observer for his artillery unit in Vietnam.  Upon his return to the States, Joe finished the rest of his tour at Ft. Ord, California and played baseball in the Army League.  After his discharge in 1968, he returned to his New England roots and enrolled in Roger Williams College.  It was there he played semi-pro fast pitch softball.  He married in 1971 and had a baby girl, Tarah.  After a major life change, Joe moved to Palm Beach County in the mid-1970s.  He met Judi and they married in 1981 and settled in Boynton Beach where they raised their son, Chris.  He loved watching Chris play baseball, soccer, football and golf as he grew up and helped coach his teams.

Joe was always an avid sports fan.  The New England Patriots, the Boston Celtics, and the Boston Red Sox were his teams, along with everything golf.  Even after moving to Florida, he remained loyal to his Massachusetts teams.  His daughter, Tarah, shared his love for the same teams.  Joe was passionate about golf and played for almost 60 years.  Any day he could fit in a round of golf with a friend was a good day!  He especially enjoyed playing with his son, Chris.  They were quite competitive, and always came home with a story to share.

Prior to his retirement, Joe was a dedicated loyal employee of Palm Beach Country Club for almost 30 years.  As the concierge, he was the first one to greet members and guests.  He will be well remembered for his easy manner, a twinkle in his eye, his Massachusetts accent, and his willingness to always be helpful both on and off the job.  Joe had a keen ability to whistle any tune and people always knew he was close by when they heard that familiar whistling.

"You were the best father anyone could ever ask for, and in my eyes, a man above all others."
Love, Chris

"You'll forever be in our hearts Vu."
Love, Tarah & Stephanie

"I will love & miss you forever."
Love, Judi
