Joseph Patrick Dowling, 61, of Delray Beach, formerly of Kendall, FL and Berkeley Heights, NJ passed away suddenly on July 7, 2012. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Debra, his children, son, Terrence Joseph of Miami, son, Colin Patrick and daughter, Caitlin Kelleher of Delray Beach, sister, Kathleen Linney and husband Jim of Greensboro, GA, brother, Kevin, of Union, NJ and several nieces, nephews and great nephew. Joe was a proud Irishman and an athlete who lettered in three sports in high school and college and was later drafted into the NFL by the Chicago Bears and the Baltimore Colts. He was a teacher, mentor and coach at Christopher Columbus High School in Miami, Pope John Paul II High School in Boca Raton, FL and Palm Beach Central High School in Wellington, FL. Most recently he was an employee of the Boca Raton Resort and Club. A great dad, he always found the time to coach his sons and their many friends at the Kendall Boys & Girls Club where they played Pop Warner football. Friends may call on Tuesday, July 10, 2012 from 7-9 p.m. at the Lorne & Sons Funeral Home, 745 N.E. 6th Avenue (North Federal Hwy), Delray Beach. A Memorial Mass celebrating Joe's life will be held on Wednesday, July 11, 2012, 10:30 a.m. at St. Vincent Ferrer Catholic Church, 840 George Bush Blvd., Delray Beach.
