Obituary

Katherine Thomas Lyle Adams, of Boynton Beach, FL, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 4, 2017 at age 95. She is predeceased by her parents Annie Belle and William Albert Lyle, husband Sidney B. Adams and sister Mary Evelyn Davis (Harold). She was loved and will be missed by her sons William S. Adams (Charlotte) of Delray Beach, FL and Alan C. Adams (Jane) of Acworth, GA; her daughter Karen A. Mathews (George) of Gulf Stream, FL; three grandsons Teak Adams (Klaudia), Tyler Adams (Donna), and Ryan Eastwood (Bobbin); two granddaughters Jennifer Grostick (Chuck) and Sydney Cowing (Blake); and 2.99 great-grandchildren Addison, Gabriel, and TBD any day now. She is also survived by loving nephews & nieces Jimmy Adams (Ronnie), Gerald Adams, Ken Adams (Ina), and Mary Ann Adams. Her surviving cousins, Bill Simmons (Evelyn) and Tee Daugherty (Bill) were like brother and sister to her.

Katherine was born in Lauderdale, MS October 25, 1921. She was raised in Jackson, MS where she attended Jackson High School. It was love at first sight and she and Sid married in 1944 after a whirlwind 1 week (typical wartime) courtship. They moved to West Palm Beach in January 1946 and finally settled in Delray in 1954. Sid opened A&C Auto Parts where Katherine worked by his side until they sold the business in 1981. In "retirement" she helped out at Mercer-Wenzel and the Christian Book Store in downtown Delray. When Katherine first arrived in town she joined Cason Memorial Methodist Church where she met new and lifelong friends and learned the game of bridge. She continued to play bridge with those and other dear friends up until her passing 60+ years later. Her friendships and family meant the world to her and lifted and sustained her throughout her days.

The family will receive friends and family at Lorne & Son Funeral Home, 745 NE 6th Avenue in Delray Beach on Sunday, August 13th at 2:00 pm followed by a service at 3:00 pm. The burial will follow at Boynton Beach Cemetery.
