Obituary

Kathleen Maud (Goodwin) Cooke, died peacefully in her sleep after suffering various health issues, in Boynton Beach, Florida on March 27, 2025. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, Roy Denham Cooke and son, Randolph Powe, sisters, Ena Robinson and Cynthia Goodwin, and brother, Lloyd Goodwin. She is survived by her daughters, Rhonda (Ngozi) Mensah; Elaine (Peter) McMaster; grandsons, Toma (Angela) Moore; Joshua Powe; Alexander Mensah; granddaughter, Lisa Bushell; great-grands, Tiffany Moore, and Remy Moore; nieces, nephews, and family friends.

Kathleen was born in St. Thomas, Jamaica, W.I. on October 24, 1935, where she attended school. She immigrated to Nassau, Bahamas, where she lived and worked for many years. She met her future husband, Roy Denham Cooke while residing in the Bahamas. They were married for forty-four years. After leaving Nassau, she immigrated to the United States. While living in the US, she held various positions in the food and hospitality industry to include working as a server and managing a coffee shop, and eventually, her own food business. She had a passion for cooking, in particular, Jamaican cuisine. She would provide guidance to her grandchildren on various recipes.

Kathleen will be remembered as a self-determined woman, who always looked for ways to improve herself and her family. She was a person that you would want in your corner if faced with adversities. In her later years, she developed a strong faith and belief in the power of prayers. She was a regular prayer warrior. She had colorful sense of humor and an uncanny way of expressing her opinions.

A Celebration of Kathleen's Life will be held on Saturday, May 31, 2025, at 11:00am at Trinity Lutheran Church and School, located at 400 N. Swinton Avenue, Delray Beach, where family and friends may come and honor her life.
