Kenneth (Ken) Tavani, 80, of Delray Beach, passed away on Saturday, September 18, 2021. A native of Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, NY, Mr. Tavani was a graduate of St. Michael's HS and Manhattan College. He enjoyed a long career as both a Phys Ed teacher at I.S. 49 and head Strength Coach and adjunct professor at Long Island University, both in Brooklyn. Mr. Tavani raised his family on Staten Island, NY, where he coached youth soccer and was active in the school and parish of Our Lady Star of the Sea. He was an ice and roller hockey player for decades, and an avid fan of the NY Rangers and FL Panthers. He was also a weightlifter who held several powerlifting records.
Mr. Tavani is survived by his three loving children, Anne Amon, Danielle Hynes, and Michael Tavani, their mother Christina Tavani, their spouses, and ten adoring grandchildren. In Delray Beach, he enjoyed his community at Huntington Lakes. He was a parishioner of Emmanuel Catholic Church and a member of their council of the Knights of Columbus.
A Visitation for Mr. Tavani will be held at Lorne and Sons Funeral Home, 745 NE 6th Avenue, Delray Beach, FL 33483, on Wednesday, September 22, 2021 from 2:00pm - 6:00pm with a 5:00pm Funeral Service.
