March 14, 1949 – August 5, 2018
Kevin McCarty (69) of Delray Beach, Florida, was born Lawrence Kevin McCarty on March 14, 1949 in Westfield, Massachusetts. After a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer, he peacefully passed away at home on August 5, 2018 with Mary, his wife of 38 years at his side.
Kevin attended the University of Florida and after spending his early years in the entertainment and restaurant business, he became a successful stockbroker and public finance banker. He loved serving his community. After being appointed to the Delray Beach Housing Authority and Community Redevelopment Agency, then Governor Jeb Bush appointed him to the South Florida Water Management District board, where Kevin served as its chair in 2005. Governor Charlie Crist then appointed him to the board of Enterprise Florida. He also enjoyed politics, serving as Palm Beach County Republican State Committeeman for 12 years and as a delegate to four Republican National Conventions.
Kevin loved golf and was a member at Delray Dunes Country Club and The Seagate Golf and Country Club, and played many of the world's most prestigious courses. He was devoted to all animals, especially his three Malteses. His kindness and infectious laugh will be missed by all who knew him.
Kevin was predeceased by his parents, Major Lawrence Henry McCarty USAF, and Christine Raymond McCarty. He is survived by his wife, Mary Ballard McCarty of Delray Beach, FL, a sister, Mary Conklin of Winsted, CT, and cousins Christine and Paul McCarty of Jensen Beach, FL, Marie Stuart of Vernon, CT, and Paul Raymond of Canterbury, NH.
Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Friday, August 17, at 10AM, St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 10935 S. Military Trail, Boynton Beach. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Suzanne Wright Foundation - Code Purple Now for pancreatic cancer research. www.suzannewrightfoundation.org
