Kim S. McQuaid, 49 years old, of Delray Beach, FL, and formerly of Freehold, NJ, went home to the Lord on December 17, 2014, after a remarkable battle with cancer. At the age of 43, Kim decided to begin running, and joined Team in Training to complete her first marathon at Disney World. Kim went on to run 5 half marathons, 3 full marathons, 3 ultra marathons, 2 triathlons, and 2 Ironman competitions. During that time, Kim began a new career as a message therapist, working with a wonderful group of people at Message Envy in Boyton Beach. She was also a member of the TOG Running Club, Palm Villas HOA Board, Florida State Massage Therapy Association, and was a volunteer at the Bargain Box. Most recently Kim participated in The Brain Cancer 5k in memory of Jim Whalen. Kim will be remembered for her beautiful smile, her determination, her motivation, her independence, her bravery, and her love for life. She will be missed.
Kim leaves behind her mother, Carol McQuaid, her sister, Kelly Bruno and husband Doug Bruno, her niece, Christielee Biase and husband Dylan Biase, her wonderful New Jersey family and her loving Florida family. All are welcome to join us for a Memorial Gathering on Sunday, December 28, 2014 from 6:00pm - 8:00pm at Lorne & Sons Funeral Home, 745 N.E. 6th Ave., Delray Beach and a Memorial Mass on Monday, December 29, 2014, at 11:30am at St. Marks Catholic Church, 643 St. Marks Place, Boynton Beach.
