Leila Juliann
Choberka
March 11, 1940 – October 25, 2018
L eila Juliann Choberka passed away on October 25, 2018 with her loving husband Mark (John Mark Choberka) and her three loving daughters nearby after a courageous 3½ year battle with ovarian cancer. She was 78 years old.
L eila was born in Binghamton, New York. She met her husband in her teenage years and they were married for 59 years. Leila lived in South Florida for most of her life and in Ocean Ridge for the past 30 years.
L eila loved, supported, and encouraged her husband, daughters, grandchildren, and God daughter in every aspect of their lives. Leila loved to travel, her favorite place being Las Vegas, Nevada. She loved attending church and was a member of the Columbiettes, a sisterhood of St. Vincent's parish where she was a 30 year member. Leila had an amazing green thumb and was an avid gardener, growing vegetables, tomatoes and flowers year-round in the hot Florida sun. She loved animals and volunteered with her garden club in her church at all times.
Leila was always there to help anyone in need, even if you didn't need the help, she was there. Whether she was knitting baby blankets and baby caps for newborns or handing money out of the car window to the needy, she was determined to help and make a difference. Her friends will miss her "can do" and positive attitude. Even towards the end of her journey, she had the thickest pair of rose colored glasses and said, "I am going to be the 'one in a million' that beats cancer." Though her positive attitude helped her fight a long battle and beat her doctor's expectations, she unfortunately was overcome by the disease. She made sure all of her grandchildren understood, "There is nothing you can't do in this life. Anything is possible." Her family will miss her deeply.
L eila is survived by her loving husband, John Mark Choberka and their three daughters, Julie Rudolph and son-in-law Howard Michael Rudolph of Palm Beach, Daughter Susan Leila Gazvoda and son-in-law Mark Gazvoda of Cleveland, Ohio, daughter Margaret (Grettie) Sutton and son-in-law John Thomas Sutton of Delray Beach, Grandchildren John Paul (JP) Ross, Hunter Andrew Rudolph, Harrison West Rudolph, Kevin Fitzpatrick Sutton, Connor Thomas Sutton, and Summer Anne Sutton. Goddaughter Deborah Surowka Hart.
