Obituary

On Saturday, May 9, 2026, Marian Rodgers Frick, age 96, of Delray Beach, FL and Chestnut Hill, MA passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones.

Marian grew up in Pittsburgh, PA graduating from Miss Porter's School in Farmington, CT and Barnard College in NY, NY. Marian married George Frick in 1952. Together they raised their four children in Westwood, MA. There was excitement and fun aplenty-family dinners, family trips from Stratton Mountain to points around the world (Rome was her favorite), games from Rabbit and the Fox to Gin Rummy, animals from gerbils to horses and summers in Hyannis Port, MA (entertaining family tennis with a memorable serve).

In the early 1970s she received her Masters of Social Work from Simmons College in Boston, MA. This began a 20 year career working in the field of addiction treatment at McLean Hospital, Belmont, MA where she worked with the affected families. Later she developed and ran a school teaching other professionals about this work.

In retirement she divided her time between MA and FL. Her favorite pastimes were bridge and parties. Marian was a lifetime music lover from the symphony to Frank Sinatra to James Taylor. She also loved to dance and swing a dish towel with her grandchildren much to their delight. Never one to leave a party, Marian passed away just days before her 97th birthday.

Comments we've received include; she was a force, always said what she meant, was elegant, statuesque (and slightly intimidating), was a strong influence on others and finally, she was iconic-a true legend.

Marian was predeceased by her husband, George, of 66 years and is survived by her four children: Thomas Frick, wife, Rosa, children James and Nicholas, Julia Kubicek, children Antea and Taryn, Lucile Cornish, children Charles and Christina, and George Frick Jr, wife, Marie, children George III, Katherine and Mack. She is also survived by four great grandchildren: Parker, Olivia, Zoe and Warren.

There will be a private internment on Cape Cod.
