Obituary

Mario G. Salvatore was born and raised in New York, where the sounds of doo-wop—especially favorites like Dion and the Belmonts—became the soundtrack of his youth. He had a passion for working on cars, and from an early age, his hands were never idle. Whether under the hood or behind a set of tools, Mario approached life with grit, generosity, and a great sense of humor.

He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps for three years, with a memorable tour in Okinawa in the recon unit and made rank as a Corporal. After returning home, he began his professional journey as an auto mechanic with General Motors, and even worked on stock racing cars—combining skill with speed and precision. Eventually, he transitioned into the construction industry, where he worked tirelessly to build a solid life for his family.

In retirement, Mario found his peace in South Florida with his beloved wife, Lois. Together, they embraced the sunshine and the simple joys of a well-earned, quieter life.

Mario is survived by his three children: Lauren Salvatore Berdy (Robert Berdy) and their children Melanie and Benjamin; Diane Salvatore Belongie (Scott Belongie) and their children Alex (Jade Belongie) and Elysa; Rick Salvatore (Beth Gentle Salvatore) and their children Scotty and Mikey.

He leaves behind a legacy of strength, laughter, and unwavering devotion to family. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

He will be deeply missed.

Burial with Military Honors will take place on Thursday, July 10, 2025 at 11:30am at Florida National Cemetery, 6502 SW 102nd Ave, Bushnell, FL 33513.
