Mary-Bertha "Bebby" Weigand, 84, a long time Delray Beach resident, was born in Spring Lake, NJ on March 26, 1929. She went to heaven on January 12, 2014. She was predeceased by her parents, her brother and her son Will. Bebby loved to learn and received undergraduate degrees from Palm Beach Junior College and Florida Atlantic University, as well as a Masters degree from FAU and a second Masters from Barry College. She had an innate talent as a teacher and enhanced the lives of many children at Pine Grove Elementary School and A. D. Henderson University School at FAU. She continued her love of teaching when she opened Penelope's Breads & Threads with her daughter Penny in 1981. For 25 years, Bebby and Penny shared their knowledge of cooking, weaving, and many other talents with countless families. Bebby was involved in the children's ministry at Spanish River Church. Married to her husband, John (Jack) Weigand for more than 64 years, she is also survived by her son Ken Weigand (wife Diane Willis) and their daughter Emily, and her daughter Penny Morgan and her two sons, John and Alex. Bebby touched many lives during her seventy years as a Florida resident. She will be missed by her family, friends, and many customers and former students. Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2014 from 10:00AM - 11:00AM with an 11:00AM Funeral Service at Lorne and Sons Funeral Home, 745 NE 6th Avenue, Delray Beach, FL 33483. Burial will follow at the Delray Beach Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, her family asks that donations be made to the wonderful people of Hospice of Palm Beach County or the Alzheimer's Association.
