Mary R. Brendle went to be with the Lord on September 17, 2014 at her home in Delray Beach. Mary Ellen was born on March 30, 1922 in Madison County, IL, to Henry and Bertha Rowekamp whose family homesteaded the land which is now Sunset Hills Country Club. She was a graduate of Edwardsville HS and attended Eastern Illinois State College. She married George R. Brendle in 1943 and spent the next 30 years traveling and being an Air Force wife before retiring in Florida in 1972. She was predeceased by her husband of 68 years, her parents and sister Dorothy.


Mary is survived by her son, Stephen and wife, Toni of Boca Raton; her daughter, Andrea and her husband, Thomas Unrine of Ocean Ridge, two grandchildren, Stephen II (Erica) and Robert (Kara), and great grandchildren, Brodie and Brooke.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, September 22, 2014 at the South Florida National Cemetery, Lake Worth. Lorne and Sons Funeral Home, Delray Beach in charge of arrangements.
