Formerly of Islip, NY, Maurice George Downs, "Big Mo," was born in Hyde, England, on July 29,1935, and passed away October 27, 2017.


Master carpenter, Free Mason, patented inventor, boater, scuba diver, world traveler, gracious host, and proud patriarch of a sprawling family that always embraced love, laughter, and a "wee dram."


Mo is survived by sons, Nicholas, Douglas, Gregory, daughter, Stephanie, niece, Heather, nephew, Michael, cherished "Grandmo" to six grandchildren, and by the love of his life, his beloved wife, Sally.


Mo had a facile, curious mind, an impish sense of humor, and an infectious joy for life. A celebration of that life will be held at Unity Church of Delray Beach, 101 NW 22 St, on Saturday, December 2, 2017, at 2:00 pm.


The family asks that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the American Heart Association.
