Mildred Hayes Cross, died suddenly on Friday, August 5 at Delray Medical Center with her children by her side.  She was 80 years old.  The eldest daughter of Isobel Stewart Bryan Hayes, and John Green Hayes, Jr.  She was born on August 4, 1936 in Richmond, VA.  She attended St. Catherine's School in Richmond, VA, St. Timothy's School in Stevenson, MD and Briarcliff College in NY.  Mildred was a long-time resident of Delray Beach, after residing most of her life in Richmond, VA. and Greenwich, CT.

Mildred, a devoted horticulturist, was a lifetime member of The Greenwich Garden Club, and past member of The Grass River Garden Club. She was a member of the Gulf Stream Bath & Tennis Club.

Mildred is survived by her daughter, Mildred Boyd Schoeller of Delray Beach, son, Karl Christian Schoeller (Brewer Mullins Schoeller) of West Palm Beach, and grandchildren, Coco and Lilly Schoeller of West Palm Beach.

VIRGINIA : Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 17, 2016, 12 noon at the Hollywood Cemetery, 412 South Cherry Street, Richmond, VA.

FLORIDA : A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, November 29, 2016, 11:00 AM at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 188 South Swinton Avenue, Delray Beach, FL.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Wayside House, 378 NE 6th Ave, Delray Beach, FL  33483, or The Greenwich Garden Club.  A celebration of Mildred's life will be held at a later date.

Mildred will be greatly missed by the many people whose lives she touched.  Her generous spirit will remain in our hearts forever.
