Mildred Elizabeth (Kueper) Huff, 90, of Delray Beach, Florida and formerly of Carlyle, Illinois passed away peacefully in her sleep on July 23, 2014. Mildred was born the 4th of 6 children to Frank H. and Helena "Lena" E. (Hilmes) Kueper of Carlyle, IL., surviving Dorothy, Raymond, Gilbert and Harold. Her youngest brother Wilfred ("Willie") continues to reside in Carlyle with his wife, Edna. As the youngest daughter of a postman and housewife, Mildred enjoyed being her Mother's helper especially in the kitchen. She graduated from St. Mary's High School and married James Wilbur Huff (from Centralia, IL.) on September 22, 1943 in St. Mary's Church. During her mid- life, she nurtured her love of cooking, making gourmet quality pies. She became an accomplished seamstress, making many dresses for her daughters as they grew up. Mildred also enjoyed knitting, cards and raising four loving children. Mildred, "Wib" and the children looked forward to their yearly trips to both Carlyle and Centralia to visit with extended family. She and her recently departed husband of 70 years, moved often throughout their married life. Although they loved every house that they lived in, they always referred to Delray Beach, FL as "Paradise" having resided there for the last 20 years. Their lake side setting, which was surrounded by palm trees and a wide variety of water fowl, made every day a true paradise for her. Mildred leaves 4 children, Diane Huff of Delray Beach, FL, Jim Huff (Jackie) of Tamarac, FL, Patricia (Hank) Smith of Lake Worth, FL and Susan (Gary) Maas of Elma, NY; 7 grandchildren, James Huff, Christine (Smith) Sadecki, Stephen Smith, Katherine (Maas) Campbell, Tricia Maas, Michael Huff and Marie Huff and 3 great-grandchildren, Ryan Sadecki, Leah Sadecki and Evan Smith. A private family service will be held on Friday, August 1, 2014.
