Obituary

Nancy Valliant Kearns, 67, of Delray Beach, Florida and Annapolis, Maryland passed away on November 2, 2022. She was born on August 30, 1954, daughter of Eli and Jeanne Vuicich in Lutherville, MD  along with her twin sister, Ann, who is 6 minutes older!  The twins joined their sister Katherine and 6 years later, brother Tommy was born.

Nancy graduated from Dulaney High School in 1972. She was a very talented and competitive gymnast. Nancy competed in all events and specialized in bars.

She attended Towson University, MD and continued to excel in competitions while her future husband, Kevin, was serving in Vietnam.  She did not graduate on schedule as she and Kevin married in 1973 when he returned and began their journey as business partners in a restaurant business.  They raised their two children, Lance and Courtney, in Annapolis, MD, and later, Nancy went back to college and graduated the same year as her daughter, Courtney.  She was a valued employee of a pool company in Annapolis for many years.  Both she and Kevin loved the beach and purchased a 2nd home in Delray Beach in 2011; they celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary in 2014 by renewing their vows on Delray Beach with family and friends.   They were seasonal residents for many years and more recently began living here year round.  Nancy was so proud of her children and how they lived their lives….Lance and his wife, Lisa, (they were married in 2013) living in Ohio raising two wonderful children, Ethan and Emma,  and Courtney, living in various places as a traveling pediatric nurse.

She was inducted into the Towson Hall of Fame in 2010 as she was one of the top gymnasts in the early years of the Towson Tigers' program and later inducted into the Dulaney Hall of Fame as well.

Nancy was diagnosed with lung cancer in Spring of 2009 at which time one lung was removed; she continued to live life to the fullest while undergoing periodic treatments to fight the cancer over the years.

Nancy has always been such a loving and giving person to her family and friends; she was the caretaker for Kevin's father after his mother died in 2009 and she has been a devoted and caring wife to Kevin.  They celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary earlier this year and knowing, Nancy, she was already planning something special for next years 50th!

Nancy's competitive nature continued in her adult life as she loved to play golf, cribbage and "family" poker which always included some wagering and certainly lots of fun and laughter.
