Dr. Nimet Turel, 87, of Delray Beach Florida and formerly of Gainesville, Florida passed away at her assisted living facility on April 8, 2020. Dr. Turel was born in May 1932 in Turkey, and completed medical school. She moved to the United States in early 1950's where she advanced her medical career. She retired from the medical practice in late 1980's and resided in Gainesville, Florida with loved friends.

Dr. Turel was predeceased by her husband Buster P. Thomas in 2015. She is survived by her only son Batu Alsan and his wife Gulbun Alsan of Delray Beach, FL, her last remaining sister Hikmet Urun of Turkey, and numerous nieces and nephews living domestic and abroad.

Unfortunately, a traditional funeral will not be possible, due to self-isolation restrictions in place. She will be buried at Delray Beach Memorial Gardens Municipal Cemetery.
