Obituary

Norma Beery Simon, 85, of Boynton Beach passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 9, 2014. Norma was born on September 22, 1928 in Wilburton, Kansas, daughter of Michael and Hazel Odell Beery, and grew up in LaPorte, Indiana. She came to Delray Beach in 1955 and was employed at First Federal Savings & Loan of Delray Beach for 29 years, serving as Vice President at the time of her retirement. Thereafter she became actively involved as a volunteer in charitable and civic organizations, including service as a member of the City's Code Enforcement Board, a member of the Delray Beach Library Association Board, the Delray Affair Committee, the Delray Beach Playhouse, Bethesda Memorial Hospital and St. Paul's Episcopal Church. Norma was also an active member of local social organizations including Beta Sigma Phi, the Jubileers Club, and the Delray Beach Music Chorale.
Norma is survived by Ernest Simon, her loving husband of 54 years, her sister, Ruth Vaught Dunham (George) of Winter Haven, FL, nephews Chase, Russell, Sean, Beau and Michael Beery, Todd Dunham, Michael, Steve, Phillip, Chris Simon, and nieces Lisa Danks, Laura Simon, and many grand nephews and nieces.
Friends may call on Friday, July 11, 2014 from 5PM to 7PM at the Lorne & Sons Funeral Home, 745 NE 6th Ave. (N. Federal Hwy), Delray Beach. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2014, 11AM at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 188 South Swinton Ave., Delray Beach.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Norma's name to St. Paul's Episcopal Church or the charity of your choice.
