Obituary

Patricia Ann Murdock proprietor of The Ocean House Hotel in Port Clyde Maine, passed away peacefully December 14, 2014, in Delray Beach, Florida after a brief, but intense, battle with cancer surrounded by her loving family.

"Patsy" was born in Winchester, MA, on January 18, 1938, the child of George J. and Florence (Murphy) Murdock. Her childhood was spent in Reading, MA where she attended Reading High School graduating class of 1956. During that time she was very athletic serving on the cheerleading squad. She continued her education at Westbrook Junior College in Portland Maine.

Patsy enjoyed living in Boston for a time and married Paul E. Lewis in 1960. They purchased a home in North Reading and when their family expanded they moved and raised their four children in Lynnfield, Mass. A move to Deerfield Beach, Florida in 1980 gave them some relief from the bitter NE winters, however, her final move to Maine was where she was most at home. Patsy joined her brothers in Port Clyde Maine where she was owner/operator of the Seaside Inn and The Ocean House. It was a special place for her, her family and guests she welcomed from all over the world.

Patsy was most happy taking long walks, cooking and managing the dining room which was a local favorite for Sunday breakfasts which often had lines out the door.

Patsy was predeceased by her parents, her brothers, Buddy & Jimmy and ex-husband Paul E. Lewis Jr. Surviving her are her four children; Candace Lewis Evans and husband Steve of Delray Beach, Florida, Paul Jeffrey Lewis of Delray Beach, Florida, Brian Murdock Lewis of Damariscotta, Maine & Kristen Ann Lewis of Coconut Creek Florida along with her best friend and long time companion of 22 years, Joseph Murphy. Grandchildren include Melissa, Dylan and Alexa Evans of Delray Beach and Carlee and Brooke Lewis of Lake Worth, Florida and great granddaughter Lillian Rae Denhart.

A Celebration of Life will take place in the fall. To honor Patsy, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Vitas Hospice at (866.41.VITAS) or Click Here to Donate
