Peter Peragine,
Sr.
October 10, 1936 – July 5, 2020
Peter Peragine, Sr., 83, 10/10/1936 - 07/05/2020 of Delray Beach, Florida formally from Ocean View, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 5th, at Delray Hospital.
Peter was born in Manhattan, NY at home, as was the tradition in their diversified Italian neighborhood. After graduating from James Monroe High School in New York, Peter moved with his parents and two sisters to Lakewood, New Jersey. He was a carpenter by trade, and in his early twenties he went to work at Level Line in Lakewood, where he became plant supervisor manufacturing prefab doors and windows.
After marrying Nancy, Peter and Nancy purchased Sea Grove Campground in Ocean View, New Jersey. Together, with their children, they created Sea Grove Camping Resort increasing the number of sites from 100 to 230. Their small farm market in front of the campground mushroomed into Seagrove Garden Center, one of the largest in South Jersey. These became Peter's passion even after retirement in the early 90's. Peter Jr. liked to tease his mom, Nancy that the businesses were his father's girlfriends. His other passions after retirement became his golf game, his computer and the stock market, and his garden. He took pride in his flowers. Aside from these activities nothing was more important than his loud, prolific family. He was happiest around a full table of his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, with of course lots of good Italian food and wine.
Peter considered his success in life to be a great achievement since he was from Immigrant parents, Laura and Michele Peragine from Bari, Italy. Peter was a financial genius and an all-around maintenance wizard. Nothing was beyond his Italian ingenuity. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends and customers.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy and his sister, Domenica Phillipp from Bayville, NJ. Peter and Nancy have six children and their spouses Laura Dadey (Brian) from Pittsburgh, PA, Carmella Tarantino (Michael) from Naples, FL., Erin Molta (Thomas) from Hoboken, NJ, Michael Peragine, Sr. (Jennifer) from Ocean View, NJ, Peter Peragine, Jr. (Gabrielle) from Ocean View NJ, and Shannon Pampena (Fiorente) from Pittsburgh, PA. There are 15 grandchildren and 3 1/2 great grandchildren.,
