Philip Conway, 94, of Ocean Ridge, FL and formerly of Bronxville, NY, passed away on August 6, 2012. Born on May 22, 1918 in South Orange, NJ to William Palen Conway and Rebecca Ambrose. Mr. Conway was a 1936 graduate of The Choate School. In 1940, he graduated from Princeton College (University). He was also a graduate of ROTC - U. S. Army. Mr. Conway was a Captain in the U.S. Army, 2nd Battalion, 156th Field Artillery serving in the European Arena, WWII. He married his loving wife, Elouise, of 71 years on May 17, 1941. Like his father, Mr. Conway was a banker. Starting with First National City Bank in 1946, now known as Citi Bank, (N.A.) and retiring in 1976 as senior vice president. Mr. Conway was an avid trout fisherman; with a masterful cast coupled with a life-long affair with bird hunting with his devoted dogs. Simultaneously, he became a well accomplished golfer. He belonged to several golf clubs, including The Country Club of Florida, The Little Club, The Hyannisport Club, Siwanoy Country Club and Wianno Club. Mr. Conway is survived by his wife, Elouise; son, P. Palen (Susan) Conway; daughter, Elouise (Hunter) Scott; 5 grandchildren, Elizabeth A. Conway, Samantha S. Conway, Kate M. Conway, Philip Conway Scott and Hunter Scott Jr. He was predeceased by his brother, William Palen Conway Jr. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 11, 2012, 12 noon at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 188 S. Swinton Ave., Delray Beach, FL 33444. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Bethesda Hospital Foundation, PO Box 243628, Boynton Beach, FL 33424-3628, in memory of Philip Conway.
