Obituary

Richard David "Rick" Douglas, 65 of Boynton Beach, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 22, 2023, at his home after a courageous battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his loving family and longtime friends.

Born in Miami Florida, he was the son of Callie Mae Douglas and the late Richard W. Douglas. He was raised and educated in Fort Lauderdale, Florida and Plantation, Florida where he graduated from Plantation High School in 1975.

Rick spent more than thirty years in the automotive business and after deciding to change careers in 2016, started his own home inspection company.  His clients always commented on Rick's honesty, kindness, and professionalism.

He made friends wherever he went and could strike up a conversation with anyone. Friendship was important to Rick and one of his greatest attributes was his lifelong reputation of being a great friend, a characteristic he watched in his mom. He was also dry-witted, had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh.

Rick enjoyed fishing, listening to music, playing guitar, swimming, watching NASCAR races and following his favorite football teams, The Miami Dolphins and FSU.  He loved animals of all kinds and was an avid gardener. Rick was happiest spending time with family and friends and cooking for them. He was masterful in the kitchen and on the grille, a trait he inherited from his dad.

Surviving Rick is his wife Lisa Gauthier, daughter Erika M. Stinemire (Jeffrey), son Austin T. Douglas, (Melinda) stepdaughters Kaitlin R. and Sophie M. Gauthier, four grandchildren Amelia (4), Ryker (3), Grayson (3), and Leo (8 months), his mother, Callie Mae Douglas, and sisters Donna Douglas Walchle, (James) and Diann Douglas (David Norton), numerous cousins and a plethora of longtime friends.

Rick will be truly missed by all who knew him.

In his honor, a Celebration of Life will be held on June 10, 2023.
