Obituary

Richard Zicky Simon, 99, passed away peacefully June 21, 2023 surrounded by his family. Zicky was 12 days shy of his 100th birthday. Zicky was born on July 3, 1923 in Pawtucket, Rhode Island to Samuel and Julia Simon. Shortly thereafter (1923), the Family moved to Delray Beach. He graduated from Delray High School (Old School Square) and was an outstanding running back on the football team. Zicky was named by the Miami Herald as the fastest running back on the Southeast coast of Florida. He served in the US Armed Forces from 1943 to 1946. Zicky attended the University of Florida. Zicky began selling cars with Adams Chevrolet in 1957 and was top salesman for over 65 years. He loved golf, singing, dancing, and attending University of Miami football games with his cousin Ernie Simon. Zicky is survived by his daughters Nancy Merritt (Joe), Gayle Rita (Eugene), Susan DuBois (Brett), six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 6th at Lorne and Sons Funeral Home, 745 NE 6th Avenue, Delray Beach from 6-8 pm. A service will be held at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 188 S Swinton Avenue, Delray Beach on Friday July 7th at 11:00 am.
