Robert Van
Brott
July 27, 1931 – October 2, 2025
Robert Parke Van Brott (Bob) of Delray Beach, FL, passed away peacefully on October 2, 2025 surrounded by his children and wife, Natalie holding his hand.
Bob's entire life was filled with compassion, warmth, and unconditional love for his family and church. He was blessed with a spiritually inspired creative mind displayed in his beautiful landscape artwork and photographs taken throughout his years in Delray Beach, FL, Gladwyne, PA and in his travels across the United States.
Bob was born in Hartford, CT and later moved to Chevy Chase, MD where he finished his schooling. He then served 4 years in the Air Force and afterwards graduated from Trinity College. Most of Bob's career was spent as an Advertising Executive in downtown Philadelphia working at Lewis, Gilman & Kynett and retired from Mueller & Wister Advertising in Plymouth Meeting, PA where impressively he kept every account with him from LGK. His accounts included Bethlehem Steel, Arco, Rohm & Hass, and Airgas just to name a few.
Bob devoted his life to serving others through his church and the community. He served as a Deacon at St. Christopher's Church of Gladwyne, PA as well as a Stephens Minister at First Presbyterian Church of Delray Beach, FL, both for decades. Bob was a dedicated political figure at home serving as Commissioner of Montgomery County, PA for two terms and was then elected Vice President of Commissioners for Lower Merion Township for two terms. Bob also served on multiple township committees during his tenures including Fire, Police, Building and Planning and Economic Development.
Bob's love of painting and photography produced beautiful works over the years and his talent was handed down to his children and grandchildren. Bob's children and grandchildren often talk about the countless evenings spent drawing and painting with Bob in his art studio and how patient and loving he was with them as they played rock radio in the background. Bob had a love for old bottles and taking his children and grandchildren to West Mill Creek Park in Gladwyne, PA to dig for bottles and build small bamboo boats and the kids tried to sink them while traveling downstream. Bob was known for his terrific green thumb. He propagated gardens, planted wooded trees, lovingly improving his home's beautiful landscape. He would wake his children up Saturday mornings to weed and rake leaves while he enjoyed his cigar. He restored and resold vintage furniture and traveled to antique shows with his wife throughout Southeast PA. His fall weekends were spent coaching his children's Gladwyne soccer teams taking them to a league championship in 1980 and 1983.
He will be remembered most by the people he touched with his engaging smile and wink to friends, family and even strangers.
He was preceded in death by his sister Anne Hare, his brother George Brott and daughter Sanderson Anne Henes.
Bob will be missed beyond words by his wife of 65 years, Natalie Van Brott, his sister Julie Harris, children Ken Van Brott, Parke and wife Julie Van Brott and Andrea and husband Dan Adkins, grandchildren Louis and Mark LaMacchia, Julia Herlihy, Stewart Henes, Alyssa and Rob Van Brott and great grandchildren Ava Herlihy and Nathalie LaMacchia.
