Robert Joseph Charles (Bob) passed away on March 2, 2015 at Abbey Delray South in Delray Beach, Florida.

Born on March 30, 1928 in Brooklyn, New York, he was the son of Evelyn Klein Charles and the stepson of Samuel Charles of Downingtown, PA. He moved to Downingtown in 1944 and attended Downingtown High School, Class of 1946. He resided most of his life in Downingtown, PA. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Marguerite Weimer Charles (Peg), two daughters Sharon and Leigh, five grandchildren and one great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his daughter Marjorie Charles.

Bob served in the US Army from 1950 to 1952. He was the owner and operator of Charles News Agency and Gift Shop in Downingtown. For many years he served on the Board of Downingtown National Bank, eventually becoming the Chairman.

The family enjoyed boating on the Chesapeake Bay for many wonderful years. In later life, Bob belonged to the Whitford Country Club where he enjoyed golf.

Upon retirement, Bob and Peg moved to Quail Ridge Country Club in Boynton Beach, Florida where they resided for 15 years. Bob attended Boca Raton Community Church. He leaves behind many wonderful friends. He will be greatly missed.

Burial will be private with a Memorial Service scheduled at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Missions Program at the Boca Raton Community Church, 470 NW 4th Ave, Boca Raton, FL 33432 (info@bocacommunity.org).
