Chesla
April 2, 1930 – February 27, 2024
Robert James Chesla, 93, of Boynton Beach and formerly a longtime Delray Beach resident, passed away on February 27, 2024. Bob was predeceased by his wife of 42 years, Ann Chesla in 2000. He is survived by daughters Cathy Chesla and Creig Smith (David), and grandsons Thomas and Andrew Smith.
Bob was born in Minneapolis, MN. Bob was a proud Air Force veteran of the Korean War. He was a Georgetown University alumnus and a member of Delta Phi Epsilon Professional Foreign Service Fraternity.
He and Ann lived in Alexandria, VA until 1974, where Bob was an Operations Manager for Sears, JC Penneys and then Marlo Furniture. They moved to Delray Beach and owned Robert's Gift Center on Atlantic Ave for 25 years. They worked with the Delray Beach Chamber of Commerce to develop Atlantic Avenue as a destination. They enjoyed summers in Valley Lee, MD.
He volunteered many years at the100 Ft Christmas Tree and The Honda Classic. He was a longtime Marlins and Heat fan and an avid golfer.
Memorial Service will be held at Lorne and Sons Funeral Home, 745 NE 6th Avenue, Delray Beach, FL 33483 on Saturday, March 9, 2024 from 12pm to 2pm.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Tri County Animal Rescue , 21287 Boca Rio Rd, Boca Raton, FL 33433.
