Obituary

Robert Normand Marquis, better known as Bob, went home to be with his heavenly Father on October 27th 2024 after a long illness, with his family by his side. Bob will be remembered for his kind heart and love for others. He always greeted friends and family with a warm hug and smile. To know him was to love him. He considered himself a sinner saved by grace and loved his Savior Jesus Christ above all else.

He was born on December 28th 1955 in Lewiston, Maine to Victor and Rita Marquis. Growing up Bob was the youngest of four children. He spent his summer days at the family camp his father had built on Tripp Lake. Bob loved to be on the water fishing, waterskiing, and swimming. Camp mostly meant time with the people he loved most, his family and friends. The yearly fishing trip to Moosehead Lake with his father, brothers, sons and close friends was something he fondly remembered. He enjoyed watching and playing a variety of sports through his years, volleyball being one of his favorites. He would join local tournaments and host weekly games at his house.

Bob was educated in the Auburn school system and graduated from Edward Little High School in 1974.

After high school he married his high school sweet heart, Deborah Murphy. Together they welcomed two beautiful daughters, Jennifer and Cari. As a family they enjoyed camping, fishing, skiing, Saco River trips and Saturday night games listening to Wolf man Jack.

Bob's work ethic was evident at a young age when he took over his older brother's bicycle paper route at 11 years old. Later, he worked at Food Town where although underage to work, got a job stocking shelves.  He was an avid skier in his young adulthood. His passion for skiing and helping others led him to becoming a Ski Patrolman at Lost Valley for several years. From 1974- 2019, he worked at Tambrands in Auburn, Maine. During his time at Tambrands he had many different rolls. He furthered his education by taking technical and mechanical classes necessary to further his career. He was a mentor and a highly valued resource. He was the go to guy. He did a lot of employee training and also went on to hold various management and leadership roles.

For the last 28 years, Bob spent his days with his love Jacqueline. they enjoyed spending time with their four children Timothy, Angela, Jennifer, and Cari. They enjoyed backyard cookouts on the deck, family dinners, and time at the Marquis camp. Watching their grandchildren play sports was one of his favorite things to do. Being a Papi to his 8 grandchildren made him so proud.  Bob and Jackie also enjoyed reading God's Word, gardening, cooking and canning, and weekends away golfing.  For the past 10 years they spent their winters in Delray Beach, FL. Here they loved being part of the community, walks on the beach and reading by the ocean. They spent 19 loving married years together until his untimely passing.

Bob knew how to make people feel special regardless of how he was feeling.  Although ill, Bob was determined to make the trip back to Maine this past summer. He got to spend special moments with his grandchildren and walk his loving daughter Jennifer down the aisle on her wedding day.

Giving back to his community was important to Bob. He was often seen at the Pathway Vineyard in Lewiston, ME in the kitchen helping to prepare meals and participating in the annual car care for single woman. At his Florida residence Bob knew everyone by name. He was known as the handyman in the community, offering support to anyone at any time.

Bob is survived by his wife Jacqueline Marquis. His children Cari and husband Geoff Newson, Timothy and wife Mindy Fortin, Angela Fortin, and son in law Brian Collins. Grandchildren Xander, Payton, Gabriel and Lyla Newson, Aubrey and Lucas Fortin, and Jada and Reese Collins.  Brothers Richard and wife Claire Marquis, Russel and wife Rosanne Marquis, sister Diane and husband John Monaghan.

He is predeceased by his parents Victor and Rita Marquis, and daughter Jennifer Marquis.
