Roni Lynn (Granger) Gidley, known to all as Lynn, passed away on September 27, 2026, at the age of 71.
Lynn will be remembered for her vibrant spirit, generous heart, and remarkable ability to make those around her feel deeply loved and valued. Whether tucking handwritten notes into lunch bags, hiding small surprises for family members to discover, or carefully selecting the perfect card or gift, she found joy in life's thoughtful details.
A passionate cook and gracious hostess, Lynn transformed every holiday gathering into a cherished celebration. Few images capture her more perfectly than dancing through her kitchen, cocktail in hand, preparing elegant roasts and homemade pies while surrounded by family and laughter.
Family was the center of Lynn's life. She shared nearly 45 years of marriage with her beloved husband, Robert "Bob" Gidley, and together they built a home filled with love, laughter, and enduring traditions. She was a devoted mother to her three children and their spouses: Jessica Zupke and her husband, Jeff; Laura Calvert and her husband, Evan; and Gregory Gidley and his wife, Devin.
Of all the roles she held, being a grandmother brought her the greatest joy. She adored her six grandchildren, Chase, Caden, Cameron, Catelyn, Conor, and Margot, and delighted in every moment spent with them. She showered each grandchild with unconditional love.
Lynn is survived by her husband, Bob; her children and their spouses; her father, Ronald G. Granger; her sister, Lori Granger Leveen (Steve); and her brothers, Bryan Granger (Diana) and Eric Granger (Karen), along with a large circle of treasured extended family and lifelong friends. She was preceded in death by her mother, Evelyn Caroline Granger, in November 2024, and her brother, Grant Gregory Granger, in June 2023.
Lynn's love story with Bob began in a tenth-grade homeroom at Winston Churchill High School in 1970. After reconnecting while attending the University of Maryland, they married on October 10, 1981, in Rockville, Maryland. They raised their family in North Potomac, Maryland, spent 15 years in Maple Grove, Minnesota, and later made their home in Boynton Beach, Florida.
Throughout her life, Lynn approached everything she did with creativity, imagination, and dedication. She had a lifelong passion for textiles, color, and design, expressing her talents through sewing, clothing design, painting, and floral arranging. She also loved live music and brought a distinctive sense of creativity and beauty to everything she touched.
Professionally, Lynn spent 26 years with the American Academy of Pediatrics, supporting legislative and advocacy efforts that advanced the health and safety of children nationwide. She later spent 12 years serving as an Executive Assistant to the Carlson family in Minnesota.
Born on February 14, 1955, in Bethesda, Maryland, to Captain Ronald Grant Granger and Evelyn Caroline (Svenson) Granger, Lynn was the eldest of five children. Her father's Naval career took the family from Washington, D.C., to Kodiak, Alaska, Virginia Beach, Virginia, and Potomac, Maryland.
At Winston Churchill High School, Lynn's energy and leadership were evident early on. She participated on the gymnastics team and pompom squad and served as vice president of her class. She later attended Longwood University and the University of Maryland, where she studied apparel and design.
From childhood summers at the family cottage in Hills Beach, Maine, to the traditions she lovingly created for her children and grandchildren, Lynn filled her life with meaningful connections and cherished memories. Her warmth, creativity, generosity, and unwavering love left an enduring mark on all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
A celebration of Lynn's life is being planned for Friday, November 20, 2026 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Bocaire Country Club, 4989 Bocaire Blvd, Boca Raton, FL 33487.
