Obituary

Sandy Elkanick, 89, of Boynton Beach, passed away Wednesday, July 24, 2013, after a brief illness. Sandy is survived by his wife, Sue, daughter Martha (John) Heald of Boynton Beach and son Larry (Sarah) Meltzer of Cashiers, NC, four grandchildren, Joshua Heald, Abby Heald, Heather Holleman, Andrea Meltzer, and four great grandchildren. Sandy, originally from Ohio, was a WW II veteran who served in the South Pacific, and graduated from the University of Miami after his release from the Army. He moved to Delray Beach in the late 1940's, where he started, owned and operated Delray Office Supplies, later renamed Gold Coast Office Supplies. Sandy subsequently worked as an insurance agent and real estate appraiser. His loves in life were his family, Jake the cat, University of Miami football, his study of history, and golf. Lorne and Sons Funeral Home will handle Sandy's cremation. His family plans to hold a private service celebrating his life and loves at a later date. Anyone wishing to make a memorial contribution is asked by his family to donate to the charity of the donator's choice.
