Obituary

Santo Frank Scotto, 86, of Delray Beach passed away on Sunday, January 13, 2019.  Frank, as he like to be called, was the first generation of his family to be born in the United States after his parents immigrated from Italy.  He is survived by his wife of 61 years, children, son-in-law, grandchildren, two brothers, sister, and many loving nieces and nephews.  Frank was a loving family man who always encouraged his children and who took extreme pleasure in spending time with his grandchildren.  His compassion for family, friends, and even strangers in need was truly a gift.

Frank was a Navy Korean War Veteran who served with honor and pride for his country.  During his time in the Navy, he was a quick learner who developed skills in communications and engineering.  These skills further improved while working for IBM for over 34 years in customer engineering and management.  As a manager, public speaking came naturally to him with his strong ability to communicate effectively with people.

He had a way of making friends easily by being a good listener who was sincerely interested in their needs and personal life.  He appreciated all his time with his friends filled with laughter and stories of the good old days, and time spent playing cards with his siblings, eating big Italian meals together, and sharing memories of their Italian parents.

Reminiscent of his navy years spent navigating around the world, Frank loved to travel with his wife discovering new places.  He had a vibrant personality with a passion for music and the dramatic arts, and could often be found dancing with his wife, watching movies or attending plays together or singing songs with his beautiful voice which he inherited from his mother.  He had a creative talent for song writing, as well as drawing and painting.  For with every stroke of his artistic brush, was a stroke of imagination and magic that will live forever in his paintings and our hearts. His creativity was truly a legacy that has inspired his children and grandchildren to appreciate and experiment with the arts.  Through his encouragement, we were always motivated with an attitude that expressed "there is nothing you can't do with practice and effort, just try and keep smiling".

So, he wouldn't want us to focus on the sadness of his death, but instead focus on the happiness in our lives and our wonderful memories together.  Although we will deeply miss him, his voice, his smile, his inspiration, and love, we take consolation in the good feelings of all our memories together and knowing that he has been called home to our Lord and Savior in heaven where he can rest in peace.

All are invited to gather together for a Mass at Emmanuel Catholic Church located at 15700 S Military Trail, Delray Beach, FL 33484 at 10:00 am on Friday, January 18, 2019.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
