Scott D.
Mcgee, Jr.
December 1, 1987 – May 5, 2021
Scott D. McGee Jr., 33, passed away on May 5, 2021. Scott is survived by his mother, Beth McGee, sister, Molly (Michael Knight), and nephew Judah Matthew. He was predeceased in life by his grandparents, William H. McGee and Patricia McGee, and his grandfather William O. Bittman, Sr.
Our beloved Scotty. How we will miss him: his laugh, his humor, his love for family and friends. Scotty was a son, brother, grandson, uncle, cousin, nephew, and friend to many. To all who knew him, he will never be forgotten and will forever be missed.
Scotty had a gentle easiness about him, making others laugh and feel comfortable. He was personable to everyone, and he loved to talk sports, especially the latest football and golf stats. Growing up in Orlando, FL, Scotty cherished playing football, baseball and basketball, BMX biking, and swimming across Sand Lake. He loved all sports, but was naturally gifted at golf, and he could regularly be found on a golf course in South Florida or Southern California. He swung the club with such ease and impressed (and usually beat) whomever he played. He played many golf tournaments with his father, Scott Sr., and he caddied at the Burning Tree Club in his teens.
Scotty was always willing to take risks, but he hated roller coasters! He eventually got over his fear of roller coasters and couldn't get enough of them, living close to Universal Studios and Disney World. Spending summers in South Florida, he enjoyed getting sandy at the beach, playing with his skim board and boogie boarding the waves, and deep sea fishing with his dad. His taste for food didn't change much, as he always enjoyed chicken fingers, fries and Caesar salad.
Scotty lived in California for many years, first going for golf school, and ending up staying and working with his good friends. He loved hiking, admiring the Encinitas beach cliffs, and walking Southern California's farmers markets. But rather than soak in the scenery or food, Scotty would often stop to pet the many dogs he would encounter on the way.
"You'll get through this," was one of Scotty's catchphrases, always wanting to bring optimism – and perhaps a laugh – to a challenge. He had an uncanny ability to find humor in anything. His smile was contagious and made his hazel eyes light up. Anyone who knew him, knew that smile and laugh, as he had friends from coast to coast. We all have our personal and special memories of Scotty, and his legacy will live on.
Many thanks to Scotty's California family: the Shackelfords and the Andersons, who provided Scotty unceasing friendship and comfort. Scotty will always live on in our hearts, and is eternally at peace with our Father in Heaven.
