Shirley (Nolde) Lennon, 83, passed away peacefully on August 23, 2015 at her daughter's home in Delray Beach, Florida. Shirley was born on May 6, 1932 in Great Falls, Montana to Christopher and Mary Helen (Swartz) Nolde. She grew up on a ranch South of Great Falls and graduated from Great Falls High School in 1950. Shirley worked for the State of Montana, Great Falls Job Service until retirement. Shirley was married to James D. Lennon from 1953 to 1966. They had four children; John, Katie, Mary and Tom. She loved Montana and Great Falls and always considered them home.
Shirley moved to The Villages Florida in 2008 and enjoyed golfing and socializing with the many great friends she met there. She was an avid bowler and golfer. She loved hats, politics, horses and all animals, but most of all she loved people and could make a friend anywhere with just her smile. We will remember her beautiful smile, her wonderful sense of humor, her laughter, her kindness and her generosity. Shirley will be missed by all, but her spirit will live on in everyone that knew her.
Her spirit is carried on by her 4 children, John (Caren) Lennon of Spokane, Washington, Catherine "Katie" (John) Murphy of Delray Beach, Florida, Mary Alice (Tony) Lucas of Washington, D.C., and Thomas Lennon of Santa Cruz, California; 6 grandchildren, Michelle Rummel of Brooklyn, New York, Kenny Fabel, Kyle Fabel, Colleen Murphy, Michael Murphy and Blake Murphy, all of Florida; 8 great grandchildren, Jameson Murphy, Colin Murphy, Michael Murphy, MacKenzie Murphy, Keegan Murphy, Owen Grant, Ryan Grant and Kenny Fable, all of Florida; her sisters, Dorothy Glynn of Stamford, Connecticut and Marjorie (Doug) Bensley of Great Falls and Phoenix and her brother, Harold (Mary Lou) Nolde of Whitefish, MT and Phoenix.
Shirley was predeceased by her parents, brother Bobby Nolde, and longtime friend and neighbor, Anna May Walbon.
A memorial mass will be celebrated on Friday, August 28, 2015 9:15AM at St Lucy Catholic Church 3510 S. Ocean Blvd. Highland Beach, FL. A Celebration of Life will be held in Great Falls, Montana on October 10, 2015, with further details to be announced at a later date.
