Sophie "Skip" Tyson, 94, of Delray Beach, FL passed away February 16, 2015. She was the daughter of Louis and Teresa Mingola. She migrated to Delray from Port Washington, NY with her husband Harry in 1957 and started a family soon after. Together, in the early 60's, they owned and operated The Clambox, one of the first restaurants in west Delray. Skip became a homemaker while her sons were in school, and later started a shop on downtown's Atlantic Avenue called The Broom Closet. She was a member of St. Vincent Catholic Church and later of Emmanuel Catholic Church. She devoted much of her life to caring for others, including her mother, who suffered from MS. Sophie is survived by her two sons, Peter, of West Palm Beach, and Michael, of Boynton Beach, her sister Carmela, of Summerfield, FL, her brother Louis, of Bryan, TX, and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends. Friends will gather Monday February 23, 2015 6:00PM to 7:00PM with a 7:00PM memorial service at Lorne & Sons Funeral Home 745 NE 6th Ave. (North Federal Hwy.) Delray Beach.
