Stanley W. Reames, Jr. of Boynton Beach, FL, 81 years young was born November 28 th , 1941 in Norfolk, Virginia. He resided there many years after serving honorably in the US Navy which he joined at age 17. Stanley was a Vietnam vet, serving 3 tours as a River Boat operator and Advisor. He traveled the world in service to his country ultimately retiring as a Chief Boatswain's Mate. He truly loved the Navy and after retiring embarked on another career at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard and at Navy Public Works Center as a Rigger. He married Nancy Bragg Reames in 1995, and inherited a huge family of children and grandchildren. He assumed the role of father to Tricia Schmidt, Sandy Schools and Rebecca Mackenzie. He was affectionately called Pop Pop by Andrew, Joshua, Johnny, Amber, Mary, Gabriel, Miriam, Esther Ruth and Sarah. They will never forget him! He loved animals and children. He enjoyed motorcycles all his life and still owned his first Harley, a 1957 Harley Sportster. He was an avid photographer, skilled guns man, and had a passion for traveling.
He is survived by his wife Nancy of 27 years, his brother Michael Galvan of Austin, Texas and his sister Elaine Groman who resides in Australia, his stepdaughter, Tricia Schmidt, son-in-law Pastor David Schmidt of Lake Worth, FL, and her sons Andrew and Josh Foreman also of Lake Worth, and his stepdaughter Sandy Schools of Cynthiana Kentucky, and her children Amber Schools and Mary Bethea Gray of Cynthiana, KY, and Johnny Schools of Norfolk Virginia.
He was a proud and active member of Cason United Methodist Church in Delray Beach, Florida. He touched many lives with his humor and friendship. Most importantly, he loved the Lord, and was a loyal and loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend.
A memorial service will be held at Cason United Methodist Church, 342 North Swinton Ave, Delray Beach at 3:00pm on Saturday, February 25 th with a reception following the service. He will be laid to rest on March 2 nd at the South Florida Veterans Cemetery on State Road 7 in Lake Worth, Florida, Lane #3, at 9:30am.
