Obituary

Suzanne L. Cranney of Delray Beach and formerly of Suffern, NY and Needham, MA passed away on Saturday, November 26, 2016.

Suzanne was born in Needham, MA to Lawrence & Clarice Eaton, their only daughter and little sister to Skilk, Bob & Steve.

She was an adventurous and independent tom boy who loved all sports, played baseball, tennis and hockey, and was a member of the Needham High School marching band drum line.

After graduating from Green Mountain College and Boston University with a BS in Physical Education she struck out on her own and moved to Rockland County, NY to be a gym teacher. It is there she met many life-long friends in the teaching profession and a skinny math teacher named Jack Cranney.
They married in August of 1958 and settled down to have 4 kids in 5 years because "that's what you did back then".

Life for the Cranney family was simple and happy with a focus on education, responsibility, and fun!
The family always looked forward to their annual vacations (camping at the Jersey Shore, a week at the Grandparents cabin on Bow Lake, NH) celebrating the Fourth of July and family birthdays together, but most of all CHRISTMAS MORNING.

Sue had a flair for finding just the right gift making every Christmas morning magical and full of love! She had an innate talent for making her family, friends and especially her grandchildren feel special!

Sue loved her role as mother, but cherished her role as "Granny" and "Pop" to her 11 grandchildren.
She adored them all and loved to spoil them and smother them with love and laughter.

Sue enjoyed many hobbies including gardening, "antiquing", shopping, and following her favorite sports teams. Jack and Sue were avid sports fans and you would find them together most every night watching baseball, hockey, football, or college basketball.

Sue and Jack eventually retired to Delray Beach, Florida where they enjoyed a full life and the companionship of their many friends.

Suzanne L. Cranney was an extraordinary wife, mother and friend who will be missed by all who loved her.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Jack, daughter, Laurie and Chuck Hieronymi, daughter, Joanne and Kevin Sweeney, son, Bill Cranney, daughter, Sally Cranney and grandchildren Andrew, Meaghan & Sean Cranney, Leigh Ann, Brad, Chip & Greg Hieronymi, and Emma, Meredith, Brian & Neal Sweeney.

A memorial gathering will be held on Friday, December 2, 2016 at 2:00PM at Lorne & Sons Funeral Home, 745 NE 6th Ave. (North Federal Hwy.) Delray Beach.
