Obituary

With heavy hearts and full stomachs, we announce the passing of Theresa "Snookie" Fatigate Laird, who left us peacefully at the age of 78 in Delray Beach, Florida. Born in Queens, NY on November 4, 1946, Snookie was the beloved daughter of the late Ralph and Helen Fatigate and the eldest of eight siblings in a bustling Italian family, where laughter was as abundant as the pasta.

Growing up in Mount Vernon, NY, Snookie became known for her larger-than-life personality, quick wit, and sharp sense of humor that could lighten any room. She had an uncanny ability to turn a simple meal into a feast and a casual gathering into a celebration. Whether it was a holiday dinner or a backyard BBQ, Snookie was the hostess with the mostest—her homemade food could win awards, and her hospitality was unmatched.

In 1966, Snookie married the love of her life, Doug Laird. Together, they raised four children and built a life in Pelham, NY, where Snookie balanced raising a family, running restaurants and bars, and maintaining her legendary ability to talk and cook at the same time. Her restaurants were more than just places to eat—they were places to feel like family.

After their move to Delray Beach, Florida, Snookie and Doug embraced retirement, spending their days basking in the sun, spoiling their grandkids and entertaining the neighborhood. Snookie's infectious laughter, coupled with her no-nonsense approach to life, left an unforgettable mark on everyone who crossed her path.

Snookie is survived by her devoted husband, Doug; her children: Chris (wife Allison), Sean, Cathy (husband Mike), and Jennifer (husband Matt); and her 10 grandchildren: Taylor, Sean, Molly, Christina, Briana, Veronica, Jenna, Casey, Michael, and Christopher. She is also survived by her siblings: Ralph, Richard, Helen, Karen, and Mary, and countless nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers Ronnie and Billy Fatigate, who undoubtedly greeted her with open arms (and possibly some very loud chatter).

A visitation will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2025, from 10:00am to 11:45am with a 12-noon funeral service at Lorne and Sons Funeral Home, 745 NE 6th Ave. (North Federal Hwy) Delray Beach, Florida 33483.

Information on an upcoming New York Memorial Service is pending.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you raise a glass in Snookie's honor—preferably with a generous pour of wine and a plate of pasta. She wouldn't have wanted it any other way.
