Obituary

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Thomas D. Hathhorn Jr. of Boynton Beach, Florida and formerly of Washington, Indiana and Lansing, Illinois on December 25, 2023. Tom will be remembered for his kind and gentle spirit and patience. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother. He was born in Litchfield, Minnesota to Thomas D. Hathhorn Sr. and Josephine (Wloch) Hathhorn on July 8, 1948. He spent his formative years in Lansing, Illinois where he graduated from Thorton Fractional High School North. Following high school. He served in the United States Army. He earned a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from Florida Atlantic University and attended the University of Connecticut and Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology. He was a die-hard Chicago Cubs, Green Bay Packers, Notre Dame, and Chicago Bulls fan. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He loved the beach, riding his bike, music, and dancing (even though he danced to the beat of a different drum). He was proceeded in death by his parents (Thomas Hathhorn Sr. and Jo Hathhorn) and his sister Sharon Hathhorn. He is survived by his loving wife Barbara (Sloan) Hathhorn; children Brian Hathhorn, Stephanie (Hathhorn) De La Res, and Gregory Hathhorn; grandchildren Brody Hathhorn, and Gabriella De La Res; brother Timothy Hathhorn and sister-in-law Nancy (Besse) Hathhorn; and sister Shelia (Hathhorn) and brother-in-law Dave Stephenson.

The visitation will be on Tuesday, January 2, 2023, from 6pm-8pm at Lorne & Sons Funeral Home located at 745 Northeast 6th Avenue in Delray Beach, Florida 33484. A mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, January 3, 2023, at 10:30am at Saint Vincent Ferrer Catholic Church located at 840 George Bush Boulevard in Delray Beach, Florida 33484. The cemetery burial with military honors will be on Thursday, January 4, 2024, at 10am at The South Florida National Cemetery located at 6501 South State Road 7 in Lake Worth, Florida 33467 in Lane 5.
