Virginia Wesley Courtenay, of Delray Beach and formerly of Louisville Kentucky passed away on November 29th at home. Mrs. Courtenay was predeceased by her husband, Erskine Howard Courtenay Jr., brother, Donald Wesley and sister, Delores Suchsland. She was born in Chicago, IL and attended Beloit College, the Art Institute of Chicago and Ecole de Beaux Arts in France. Her grandfather John Schrambeck, an architect and builder, and her father Albert Wesley, a lamp designer, influenced her decision to go into the arts. She found her passion in 18th century antiques and interior design. Her gift was to interpret the tastes of her clients and create the image they wanted for themselves. She enjoyed 40 years with her firm Virginia Courtenay Interiors. Some of her accomplishments include: President of the South Florida Chapter of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) and National Board Member; appointment to the governor's design team refreshing the Florida Governor's Mansion in Tallahassee; Member of the Delray Beach, Florida and National Historical Preservation Societies; Member Old School Square Board and chairwomen of many Designer Showcase Homes for various charities.

Virginia enjoyed tennis, photography, painting, cooking, boating and most of all traveling with "Howdy" and Erskine. They were members of The Little Club, Colony Beach Club, Gulfstream Bath & Tennis and The Louisville Country Club.

She is survived by her step-children, Andrea C. Spradling (Mark), Whitley H. Courtenay (Mary Ann) and Erskine H. Courtenay III (Dawn), her grandchildren, Matthew Spradling, Stephen Spradling, Jennifer Spradling, William Courtenay, Caroline Courtenay, Jurnee Courtenay and Jack Wilhoit.

A visitation will be held on Friday, December 11, 2015 from 5PM to 7PM at LORNE & SONS FUNERAL HOME 745 NE 6th Ave(N. Federal Hwy.) Delray Beach, FL 33483. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, December 12, 2015 10AM at St. Vincent Ferrer Catholic Church, 840 George Bush Blvd Delray Beach, FL 33483.
