Virginia M. Reilly, nee Durham, 96, of Miami Beach; formerly of Vero Beach, passed away peacefully at home on August 7th, 2016. She was predeceased earlier this year by her beloved husband Terrence Edward Reilly. She was also predeceased by her son Thomas Joseph. She is survived by her daughter, Katherine and sons John Kevin, Stephen and Terrence. She is also survived by her grandchildren Elizabeth and Myles and great granddaughters Sabrina, Olivia and Amelia. She will be remembered fondly by her family and friends as a loving and caring mother, grandmother and friend.
Virginia graduated from Rhode Island College of Education in 1942. She participated in the war effort during WWII, working in Washington DC in the cartographic division of the Army Map Service. Virginia taught elementary school for many years in the Broward County school system. She attained her Master's degree in education from Florida Atlantic University at age 50.
Virginia loved painting with pastels and enjoyed giving her artwork to friends and family. She loved reading and keeping her mind sharp with puzzles, cryptograms, and playing scrabble. In fact, she played scrabble just a couple of hours before passing away.
Virginia was a member of St. Patrick's parish in Miami Beach.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, August 12, 2016 at 12 Noon at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Cemetery, 1500 South State Road 7 (441), North Lauderdale, FL 33068. (954) 972-1234.
