Obituary

W. Donald Fay, Jr. was called to heaven from his home in Boynton Beach, Florida, on Easter Tuesday, April 3, 2018. Born in Savannah, Georgia, Don was preceded in death by his parents, Walter Donald and Gertrude Corish Fay, and his brother-in-law, Lt. Col. W. G. Viers.

Don is survived by his loving wife of over 50 years, Maureen, his devoted daughter Virginia (Ginger), her husband, Kenneth (Ken) Rona, his cherished grandchildren, CJ and Doyle Rona, his dear sister, Gertrude Fay Viers (Dixie), his wonderful nephews, Glenn and Michael (Mike) Viers, and many special cousins and godchildren.

Don graduated from Baylor School in Chattanooga, Tennessee in 1954 and earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Auburn University in 1958.  He was a member of Omicron Delta Kappa, The National Leadership Honor Society, and a brother of Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity.  He proudly served his country as a 1st Lieutenant Paratrooper in the United States Army.  During his business career, Don was a Vice President of Avondale Mills, Inc. and a sales representative for Jefferson-Pilot Life Insurance Co., Modular Corp, and Triad Managed Investments.  He was a licensed Realtor in North Carolina, Managing Director of Scaglia America, Inc., and owner of Fay Industrial Handling Systems.  Don was a Paul Harris Fellow of the Greensboro Rotary Club and was a member of The New York Athletic Club, The Apawamis Club in Rye, New York, the Siwanoy Country Club in Bronxville, New York, the Greensboro Country Club, and the Delray Dunes Golf & Country Club.  A lifelong Catholic, Don particularly relished his stewardship work at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Greensboro, North Carolina, and serving as a Eucharistic Minister at St. Mark Church in Boynton Beach, Florida.

Visitation hours will be held on Friday, April 6, 2018, from 5 PM to 7 PM at Lorne & Sons Funeral Home, 745 NE 6 th Ave. (North Fed Hwy), Delray Beach with a prayer service at 6:30 PM.

Don's funeral Mass will be celebrated by Father Richard Florek, OFM, Conv. at St. Mark Catholic Church, 643 St. Mark Place, Boynton Beach at 11 AM on Saturday, April 7, 2018.

For those wishing to, the family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be directed to a favored charity, St. Mark Church, or St. Pius X Catholic Church.
