Walter Henry Mongon, Jr., better known as "Skip", of Highland Beach, FL, formerly of Mahopac, NY, passed away peacefully at home on July 11, 2022, surrounded by his family at the age of 81.

He was predeceased by his parents, Walter and Agnes, his brothers, Peter and Kenneth, and beloved grandson Gabriel. He was loved and cherished by his wife, Anne, of 62 years, his 5 sons, Michael (Lynne) of Mahopac, NY, Mark (Genevieve) of St. Augustine, FL, Christopher of Highland Beach, FL, David of Charlotte, NC and Ted (Tessa) of Lake Worth, FL.  He is also survived by his adoring grandchildren, Ryan, Katrina, Timothy, Tyler, Caitlin, Brodie, Matthew, Clay, Sabrina and Ronan, and one great grandson Eli.  He will be deeply missed by many cousins and friends who enjoyed his loving company.

Skip was an active volunteer all of his life, most recently at Birthline/Lifeline.  He enjoyed coaching football, having coached at Iona and Pace University in New York.  He had a love for travel and adventure, with one of his favorite destinations being Ireland where he explored his ancestry and celebrated his Irish heritage.  He enjoyed all Irish music especially the Irish Tenors.  An avid golfer, Skip played some of the greatest golf courses around the world.

Skips children and grandchildren were the pride and joy of his life.  The legacy of Skip's kind spirit, passion for sports, love of football, and zest for life will live on through them.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, October, 28, 2022, 1030 AM at St. Vincent Ferrer Catholic Church, 840 George Bush Blvd., Delray Beach, FL 33483.
