William Francis Kelly "Bill", 84, of Delray Beach, Florida, and formerly of Venice, Florida, passed away on Thursday, November 2, 2017. Bill was born on October 28, 1933 to William and Ida Kelly in Brooklyn, New York. Bill married his wife, Patricia, in 1955. They would enjoy 57 years of marriage. They had four children, William Kelly of Babylon, New York, Christine Wingate ( Howard) of Cooper City, Florida, Suzanne Impagliazzo (Paul) of Delray Beach, Florida, and Matthew Kelly(Heather) of North Port, Florida.

Bill was the oldest of five children. He has two brothers, Robert Kelly (deceased), Charles Kelly of Lake Worth, Florida, and two sisters, Joan Cartolano of Baltimore, Maryland, and Kathleen Constant of Wantagh,New York.

Bill served in the Korean War as a member of the Marine Corp from 1951-1954. Following his military service, Bill became a New York State Trooper. In 1955, he joined the NYPD, retiring as Sargent in 1976. Bill and Patricia moved their family to Manasota Key in Englewood, Florida that same year. His law enforcement career continued, working on the Police department at New College of Florida in Sarasota,Florida. He would retire in 1997 as Captain at the university.
Bill enjoyed a life filled with family and friends. He is predeceased by his wife, Patricia, who passed in 2012. He is survived by his 4 children, 14 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, 1 brother, 2 sisters, 3 sister-in-law, 13 nieces and nephews and many friends.


A memorial mass will be celebrated on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at 1:00 PM at Epiphany Cathedral Catholic Church, 310 Sarasota Street, Venice, Florida. Inurnment will immediately follow at Gulf Pines Memorial Park, 2401 Englewood Road, Englewood,Florida.
