William Warren
Mann, Jr.
May 28, 1944 – July 8, 2020
William W. Mann, Jr., 76, passed away peacefully at home in Boynton Beach, FL on July 8, 2020, holding the hand of the love of his life, his wife Susan (Maurer). He was blessed to have had his last days spent with his much-loved family - son, Richard Mann of Northfield, NH; his wife Julie; and two of his grandsons – Kyle Mann and Riley Mann, also of Northfield, NH. His oldest grandson is currently serving in the U.S. Air Force, stationed in Oklahoma, but they were able to FaceTime to say their goodbyes.
Bill was born in Medford, MA, and was an extremely proud member of the Massachusetts State Police (48 th RTT) before retiring in 1987 with the rank of Sergeant after serving 20 years. He then began Breath Testing Services as Sole Proprietor until 1993 when he and Sue moved to their home in Boynton Beach. From 2000 to 2010, he served as the Evidence Custodian for the Boynton Beach Police Department.
Bill graduated from Malden High School, Malden, MA in 1963. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Northeastern University, Boston, MA in 1983, and went on to get his Master of Science in Criminal Justice at Anna Maria College, Paxton, MA in 1985. He testified before the state legislature in MA on recommended changes to the law, and received a Gubernatorial Commendation for his work from Governor Michael Dukakis.
Bill was a member of the Former Massachusetts State Trooper's Association, several Mini Cooper car clubs, and St. Mark Catholic Church in Boynton Beach.
Bill was diagnosed 13 years ago with pancreatic cancer, and fought valiantly and hard to not take a moment for granted. He had an unbelievable quality of life…more so than others who are not sick. That blessing is attributed to his always positive attitude, and the unbelievable care and treatment he received from so many wonderful doctors, nurses, and staff at the Sylvester Cancer Center in Miami, FL. It brought him much happiness to be with his family and friends. He and Sue traveled extensively to Europe, loved road trips to the mountains of North Carolina, and really enjoyed driving twisties with the Mini Clubs.
He leaves behind many more grieving family members and great friends, too numerous to mention individually, and he will be greatly missed by all of them. Interment will be at Our Lady Queen of Peace Cemetery, Royal Palm Beach, FL; and a Memorial Mass and Celebration of Life will be held at a later date after COVID.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to UM Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, Office of Development, 1550 NW 10 th Ave, Fox 100 (M867), Miami, FL 33136 or Valle Crucis Community Park, P.O. Box 581, Valle Crucis, NC 28691
